“Kargil” one of the best places to visit in Jammu and Kashmir. Kargil is a lovely but important transit hub of Ladakh, with roads leading from Leh to Srinagar, and Padum in Zamskar region. Its summer splendour has a matching autumn charm that turns the landscape into magical hues of green, brown and orange. Kargil provides excellent places for trekkers and mountaineering besides large scope for river rafting in the Zanskar region.

Also known as valley of flowers,  Nafran Valley is situated at an altitude of 3,300 meters above sea level. Fifteen kilometers from Aaru Pahalgam, the landscape of the valley compromises of flowery meadows, pine trees, gushing water with steep rocky mountains on two sides. The valley is gateway for Harbhagwan Lake trek; and can serve as a great camping location worth few nights stay.

Nestled amid the lush vegetation, Reasi Fort is located in the beautiful town of reasi, which is 64 Km away from Jammu in Udhampur District. Originally built up clay and mud, the fort is atop hillock at the height of almost 150 metres, whose surrounding have been converted into beautiful gardens and pathways. It is an attractive Landmarks for tourists that overlooks Anji River and presents commendable view of areas around.

Chingus Fort or Chingus Sarai is a Fort complex in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir that dates back to the 16th century and was used by Mughal Emperor’s as rest camp or transit camp during their annual journey to kashmir.

The fort complex built on the bank of Nallah houses one of the two graves of Mughal Emperor’s Jahangir, who died enroute from Kashmir to Delhi. Other one is in Lahore, Pakistan.

The tourist spot botapathri, also called the Nageen Valley is one of the lesser-known but stunning scenic wonder at an altitude of 9000 feet which is part of  Gulmarg Biosphere Reserve quite famous for its lush Alpine meadows blue Pine and wildlife which includes musk deer, Leopard, red fox and the Hangul (Kashmiri stag).

Dressed with deep forest cover across, Gurez is one marvellous valley located in the high himalayas, which is 123kms from srinagar in northern kashmir. At 8000ft above sea level, the valley surrounded by snow- capped mountains has diverse wildlife included the himalayan brown bear and the snow Leopard.

The kishan Ganga river flowa through the valley, which is a gateway to famous silk route. The pyramid shaped peak here named after famous kashmiri queen and poetess Habba Khatun is one of most fascinating peaks.

Jai Valley is a lush green valley that lies about 32kms in Northeast of Bhaderwah Town in J&K. Bisected at it seems by a fresh, shimmering rivulet called Jai Nallah, the valley is an ideal place for the camping the either side rivulet whose water add melody to the silence that drapes the Valley.

The Jai Nallah, popular for trout fish culture, flows towards the Thathri-Tehsil Headquarters where it emerges into Kalgoni Nallah. Which has mighty waterfalls and rocks which pose challenge to expert rock climbers.

At an altitude of 10,000ft, Hunder is a small but beautiful Village in Diksit the capital of Nubra Valley 150kms north of Leh. The fascinating Hunder, also known as “The Desert In The Sky”, lies on the ancient silk route that was once significant International Trade Route. It is most popular for camel rides in the high altitude cold desert which are done on Bactrian Double-Humped camels with light brown and golden Hued mountains inthe background, thus making for an absorbing peep into the bighone era of Silk Route Trade.
